GK ball distributions: Risk vs Reward
An average time period between goalkeeper claims or picks up the ball and the next action is about 9 seconds (despite of ‘6 seconds rule’).
While winning this time increases to 11 sec, when losing – decreases to 7 sec.
I wanted to check if fast distributions after claim or pickup help increasing probability of shot or ‘deep completion’ within next 10 actions.
The highest success rate when keeper releases the ball within first 3 seconds.
And importantly it doesn’t increase a risk to concede a shot or deep completion.
I did similar research and came into pretty much the same conclusion that fast throw-ins help increasing the chance of retaining possession within next 10 actions.
